SP MP among 83 party leaders held
Lucknow, Sep 19(UNI) Almost 83 Samajwadi Party leaders, including party MP and former Advocate General Virendra Bhatia, were today arrested, while proceeding towards Raj Bhawan to protest the Mayawati government decision to ban the Students Union polls.
Sources said a procession led by Chatra Sangh Bachao Sangharsh Samiti was flagged off by SP Youth Wing in charge and MP Akhilesh Yadav.
Former student leader and MP Virendra Bhatia, MLC Rakesh Rana, ex minister Arvind Gop and several SP activists staged a demonstration in the G P Park.
They were arrested, while on way to Raj Bhawan to hand over a memorandum to Governor T V Rajeswar. However, they were later set free.
