Japan stocks rise 3 pct as Fed move lifts financials

TOKYO, Sep 19 (Reuters) Japanese stocks rose more than 3 percent on Wednesday as investors, encouraged by the U.S. Fed's bold rate cut, bought financial stocks and other recently battered stocks.

Gains on Wall Street helped exporters such as digital camera maker Canon Inc to advance.

As of 0018 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei was up 477.32 points or 3.02 percent at 16,279.12. The broader TOPIX index climbed 3.16 percent to 1,558.70.
