Girl run over by truck, 7 trucks torched

Faizabad, Sep 19 (UNI) At least eight vehicles, including seven trucks, were torched by a mob, following the death of a girl in a road accident under Kotwali area of Faizabad city today.

Poonam Pandey, an engineering student, was run over by a truck after she left her college.

Irked over the incident, the mob blocked the highway and torched seven trucks and a jeep.

Property worth crores of rupees was gutted in the incident.

''Over 100 students and driver of the vehicle have been arrested and adequate police force deployed in the area to avoid any fresh violence,'' Police Superintendent (city) Gopesh Nath Khanna said.
