Ahmedabad, Sep 19 (UNI) Condemning the killing of Surat Gauraksha Samiti chief yesterday, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Bharatsinh Solanki and Leader of the Opposition in the assembly Arjun Modhwadia today said the state government had failed to provide security to the Samiti members.
The killing of Jasuba Darbar at village Kosadi in Mangrol taluka was a failure of the local administration to provide security. When Jasuba left with his members, it was very much in the knowledge of the local administration. However, it failed to provide security resulting in his brutal killing, they said in a joint statement here.
The duo charged that the killing of Jasuba has come handy for the Chief Minister Narendra Modi to meet his political ends. It presages communal tension that will affect the ordinary people the most.
Keeping in mind the forthcoming polls, it is an attempt by the present regime to enact 2002 all over again. It is the state's duty to protect the life and property of its citizens. The Chief Minister should not play with the lives of innocent people for meeting political ends.
The two leaders also appealed to the people not to fall into the trap of the state Chief Minister in his bid to bring communal tension to the fore in the state.
