Four get life term in murder case in Haryana

Jagadhri, Sep 19 (UNI) A local court today handed out life sentences to four undertrials, including three brothers in a murder case.

Holding the four guilty, Additional Sessions judge Darshan Singh sentenced them to life terms and imposed a fine of Rs 2000 each. Those who were given life terms include Lakshman Giri, Brahm Giri and Narayan Giri, all three brothers and their cousin Pradeep Sharma.

The fifth accused in the case, Naresh Giri, mother of the three brothers was also held guilty andsentenced to three years in prison.

She has also been asked to deposit a fine of Rs 2000. However the court released her on bail in view of her old age.

The five were held guilty for the murder of Rajiv Goel, relative of state BSP secretary Rajiv Gupta. The deceased was murdered last year following a dispute over the selling of 8-bigha of land belonging to a temple here, which was being looked after by Om Giri, the husband of Naresh Giri.

The three brothers alongwith their cousin had planned to sell the mandir land which was being opposed by Rajiv Goel and Rajiv Gupta, as the land was donated to the temple by the latters family.

The three brothers alongwith their cousin and their mother then hatched a conspriacy to get rid of Rajiv Goel.

All the five were arrested soon after the murder.
