Female literacy in Gujarat has improved under Modi regime: Rupala

Anand, Sep 19 (UNI) Gujarat BJP unit president Purushottam Rupala today claimed that girls education in the state had gained impetus in the regime of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

When Mr Modi assumed power in 2001, Gujarat ranked 17th in the country in respect of literacy among girls and, now, the state has progressed to the third place in that regard, Mr Rupala said, speaking at a function near here today.

Mr Modi has contributed Rs 14 crore, received as gifts, for the female education programme of ''Kanya kelavani,'' he added.

On the occasion, Mr Rupala felicitated 65 boys and girls from the Patel community for their academic achievements.

Meanwhile, ereferring to the recent controvery over the Archaeological Survey of India affidavit to the Supreme Court on Lod Rama and the subsequent suspension of two ASI officials, he said that the affidavit had been approved by the Union Cabinet and, by suspending the two officials, the Congress is trying to fool the people.
