Asia Women Lawyers Conference in Bangalore on Sept 22 and 23

Bangalore, Sep 19 (UNI) More than 1000 delegates from Asian Countries are participating in the Asia Women Lawyers Conference to be held here from September 22, Conference Convenor Sheela Anish said today.

Talking to newsmen here, she said that the Conference with theme 'Women Rights, Human Rights' was being held for the first time in India and delegates from Sri Lanka, Singapore, and other Asian countries would be presenting papers on 'Domestic Violence' and 'Trafficking in Women and Children'.

The speakers include Justice Ms Kumudini Vikrame Singhe, Judge, High court of Central Province, Sri Lanka, Dr (Ms) Anamah Tan, Advocate, Singapore and Member of UN Committee on CEDAW, Prof V S Elizabeth of National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Ms Amee Yagnik, Advocate, Ahmedabad, N Saraswathi devi, Barrister-of-law, Middle Temple, London.

Ms Sheela said that Chief Justice of India Justice K G Balakrishnan would inaugurate the Conference, while Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph would release Souvenir, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would be the chief guest.
