Surat, Sep 19 (UNI) Two stabbing incidents were reported from nearby Kamrej town today as a fallout of yesterday's violence in Mangrol taluka of this district in which one person was killed.

A 46-year-old bus driver and another 40-year-old man were stabbed by a mob in Kamrej during the ''bandh'' observed by the ''Gowraksha Samiti''.

Barring these two incidents, there were no other incidents of violence in Surat, a policial official told UNI. However, shops remained closed in response to the ''bandh'' call.

The ''Gowraksha Samiti'' had given a ''bandh'' call today after one of their activists was killed in a mob violence yesterday.

Trouble had started yesterday when around fifteen activists of the ''Gowraksha Samiti'' conducted searches at Kosadi village in Mangrol taluka on the suspicion that a large quantity of beef was hidden in that village.

This angered the villagers who resisted the search operation by pelting stones at the activists. One of the activists, Jasu, was seriously injured in the incident and he succumbed to his injuries.

As the news spread, violence had sparked off in neighbouring villages also and eight shops were burnt by miscreants in nearby Mausali village yesterday.
