'TN Govt responsible for merging Pollachi with Palakkad division'

Coimbatore, Sep 18 (UNI) MDMK General Secretary Vaiko today held the Tamil Nadu Government responsible for allowing Pollachi and Kinathukadavu to merge with Palakkad railway division, from Madurai division, to create the new Salem division and said his party would launch a rail roko at Pollachi under his leadership tomorrow.

Talking to mediapersons here, he asked on what basis few Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha members had talks with the Railway Ministry and their Kerala counterparts and signed an agreement.

His party would not allow a single metre of railway line from this State to Palakkad division, he asserted.

Coming down heavily on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Mr Vaiko said it was a conspiracy to give away 79 km of railway line to Palakkad, when the Kerala Government did not implement the Supreme Court order on raising the height of Mullaperiyar dam in the interest of Tamil Nadu.

He said it was unfortunate that the State Government on one hand allowed the jurisdiction of railway line from this State to Kerala, while on the other the ruling party was resorting to a bandh in Pollachi against it.
