Panchaloga idols stolen from TN temple

Madurai, Sep 18 (UNI) Two Panchaloga idols, valued at several lakhs of Rupees, were stolen from the 90-year-old Sri Navaneetha Krishnan temple at Keezha Marat Street here.

Police said the temple priest noticed the burglary this morning when he went to the temple for performing the routine rituals. The temple was under the control of a private trustee.

The culprits had gained entry into the temple by scaling the wall and breaking open the grill gates.

The idols were that of 'Thirumangai Azhwar' and Goddess 'Rukmani Thayar', each measuring one-and-a-half feet in height.

Police formed a special team to nab the culprits.
