Man stabs 'wife' after refusal to go with him, hangs self

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) A bitter argument led to a 25-year-old man stabbing his 'wife' in Pandav Nagar area of East Delhi and later hanging himself from a tree.

Narendra, resident of Khoda Colony, allegedly stabbed his wife Shivani (20) this morning near Sanjay Jheel area in Pandav Nagar, following a heated argument, said the police.

''He later went to a closeby park and hanged himself from a tree with the girl's 'dupatta'.'' The girl, resident of Shashi Garden, was later rushed to a closeby hospital where her condition was said to be serious.

Sources said refusal by Shivani to go along with Narendra, as her parents were against their match, enraged him leading to take the extreme step.

''Shivani backed out from the relationship due to family pressure which infuriated Narendra and the argument over this today led to him stabbing her and then hanging himself,'' they said.

Narendra and Shivani had got married some time back against their parents' wishes, but had not disclosed it due to family pressure, which was confirmed by the marriage certificate found from Narendra's pocket, sources added.
