Bangalore, Sep 18 (UNI) A meeting of the Janata Dal (Secular) Legislative Party today discussed about preparations for the September 28 Urban Local Body Elections, Party Spokesman Y S V Dutta said.

Talking to newsmen here, he said the meeting held in the presence of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Home Minister M P Prakash among others, discussed about the strategy to be adopted for the Urban Local Body Elections.

''No other matter, including transfer of power, was raised'', he clarified.

Those present made suggestions on poll preparations and the strategy to be adopted.

Mr Dutta said, ''It was decided to highlight the achievements of JD(S) during the last 20 months under the Chief Ministership of Mr Kumaraswamy during the campaign.'' When asked about transfer of power to BJP on October 3 as accepted, Mr Dutta said Former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President H D Deve Gowda would call upon BJP senior leaders including Former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee, L K Advani and Rajnath Singh after September 26 before the party took a final decision.

Mr Dutta ruled out JD(S) striking any alliance with BJP during elections.

''The party has decided to maintain equi-distance from the BJP and the Congress,''he said.

To a question, he replied there was no need to give any political significance to Mr Gowda meeting the Governor yesterday. It was only a courtesy call.

He said Mr Gowda has convened JD(S) ministers meeting in the state tomorrow to discuss the forthcoming Urban Local Body Elections.
