JD(S) MLAs discuss about strategy for Urban Localbody election

Bangalore, Sept 18 (UNI) Janata Dal (Secular) Legislative Party meeting convened today discussed about preparation for the September 28th Urban Local Body Elections, said party spokesman Y S V Dutta.

Talking to newsmen after the meeting, he said that the meeting held, with presence of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Home Minister M P Prakash among others, discussed about the strategy to be adopted for the Urban Local body elections. "No other matter, including transfer of power was raised", he added.

Those present suggested about preparation about the party and the strategy to be adopted.

Mr Dutta said that "It was decided to highlight the achievements of JD(S) during the last 20 months under the Chief Ministership of Mr Kumaraswamy during the Campaign".

When asked about transfer of power to BJP on October 3 as agreed, Mr Dutta said that former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President H D Deve Gowda would call upon BJP senior leaders including former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee, L K Advani and Rajnath Singh after September 26 before the party takes final decision.

Mr Dutta ruled out JD(S) striking any alliance with BJP during elections. "The party has decided to maintain equi distance from BJP or Congress".

Replying to a question, he said that there was no need to give any political significance to Mr Gowda meeting the Governor yesterday, it was only a curtecy call.

He said that Mr Gowda has convened JD(S) Ministers Meeting in the State tomorrow to discuss on forthcoming Urban Local Body Elections.
