Kohima,
Sep

A
vast
area
of
Tuli
town
was
flooded
due
to
Milak
river
overflowing
its
embankments
following
last
month's
incessant
rainfall
in
Nagaland.
According to official sources, several families had been affected by flood and people had been shifted to higher and safer places.
The dangerous trend in which the river was trying to change its course in the Paula Sector might affect more areas.
More of a concern was the major lifeline to Mokokchung, the National Highway 61, as more than fifty per cent of the road had already been swallowed by the river.
Local people of this border town of Assam and Nagaland had been complaining of not getting any help from the administration and if the NH 61 gets eroded, the entire town will be cut off from communications.
