Sunny day in Delhi, mercury rises to 36.6 deg C

New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) After cloudy conditions over the past few days, it was a bright sunlit sky in Delhi today with a rise in the mercury to 36.6 degrees Celsius.

Delhiites woke up to a bright sunny morning today, after cloudy weather over the past week. The minimum temperature rose to 26.0, one degree above normal.

Though the Southerly winds continued to bring some respite from hot and humid conditions, the Sun's appearance in the sky led to a rise in maximum temperature to 36.6 degrees Celsius.

Weathermen attribute the bright sunny conditions and the rise in mercury to the dissipation of the low pressure system over Northwest Bay of Bengal that had caused some rainfall over the city last week.

The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of thundery development in a few areas.
