Student injured as teacher throws wooden stick

Katni, MP, Sep 17 (UNI) A 12-year-old girl suffered a serious injury on her left eye when an angry teacher flung a wooden stick at her at a government middle school at Reethi, about 40 km from here.

Teacher B L Patel, who is also incharge Principal of the school, threw the stick, injuring Sangeeta on Saturday. Blood gushed out of her left eye and she was unable to see.

The matter came to light when the victim was brought to hospital for treatment yesterday. According to doctors, Sangeeta's eyeball had suffered serious damage and complete recovery of eyesight was not possible.

School Education Minister Lakshman Singh Gaud, meanwhile, met Sangeeta and her relatives at the hospital and assured them every possible assistance for her treatment. Sangeeta was sent to the Jabalpur medical college for better treatment.

Mr Gaud has issued directions to suspend the guilty teacher. He also ordered an inquiry into the whole matter.

A police complaint was being filed by the affected family.
