Mumbai, Sep 17: The Rupee tumbled by nearly 11 paise against dollar today, reflecting the loss in sensex, owing to the narrow capital inflows.
Rupee, which stood range-bound in the early session, closed at 40.55/56 per dollar as compared to its closing mark of 40.44/46 per dollar on Friday.
During the day, it touched a high of 40.43 per dollar and a low of 40.59 before closing at 40.55/56 per dollar.
In the forwards, six-month and annualised premia ended respectively at 1.62 (1.56) and 1.77 (1.71) per cent.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate at Rs 40.47 per us dollar, down by two paisa from its previous day's rate of Rs 40.45 per dollar.
Against major world currencies, the Rupee showed a weak trend today. Against euro, it ended at 56.26/27 (55.99), against pound sterling at 81.08/09 (81.27) per unit each, while against Japanese yen, it was quoted at 38.27/29 (35.19/20) per hundred units each.
