Mainstream parties decided to support Pro-Kannada candidates

Belgaum, Sep 17 (UNI) To support pro-kannada candidates in the September 28 local bodies elections all the major political parties including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Janata Dal(S) have decided not to field their candidates.

Mr Ramesh Kudachi, city legislator from Congress has inforemd that all the three political parties have decided not to field their candidates and support pro-kannada nominees in Belgaum city.

He said that the decision was taken to fight together against Maharashtra Ekikarana Samithi (MES) which was supporting the merger of Belgaum into Maharashtra which was against the interest of the state.

A committee comprising leaders of the all the political parties in the district was formed to decide the common candidates and work for their success. "The consent of all the parties leaders have been secured for fielding common candidates" Mr Kudachi said.
