Haryana Haj Committee urges pilgrims to take polio vaccine

Chandigarh, Sept 17 (UNI) Haryana Haj Committee Chairman Azad Mohammad has urged all intending pilgrims of Haj from the state to take oral polio vaccine.

Mr Azad Mohammad who is also the Deputy Speaker of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, said, "This year the Saudi health authorities have made the administration of oral polio vaccine mandatory for the Haj pilgrims.

In view of this direction the pilgrims are advised to get the oral polio vaccine administered to themselves at the office of civil surgeon concerned." The polio vaccination certificate should be sent to Haj Committee of India either directly or through State Haj Committee, Haryana within 15 days for endorsement of Haj visa.

He said that health cards were being dispatched to all civil surgeons by the State Haj Committee for distribution amongst the pilgrims. He urged the intending Haj pilgrims to contact State Haj Committee in this regard.

Mr Mohammad also asked all the intending pilgrims to immediately deposit a bank draft of Rs 12,000 per pilgrim towards advance air fare. The bank draft should be in favour of Haj Committee of India, Mumbai, payable at Mumbai directly to the office of Haj Committee of India, Haj House, 7-A, MRA Marg (Palton Road), Mumbai-400 001.

The draft sould be submitted along with a covering letter indicating the details like name, cover number and address of the pilgrims. The difference in the advance air fare, if any, would be announced later on, he added.
