Durga idols' desecration creates tension in Bhadohi

Bhadohi, Sep 17 (UNI) Tension gripped the Maryad Patti area in this district of Uttar Pradesh, following desecration of under construction idols of Goddess Durga idols.

A group of anti-social elements stormed into a pandal and vandalised several Goddess Durga idols last night. The idols were under construction for the forthcoming Navratri festival in October.

The masked miscreants also beat the craftsmen black and blue for raising an alarm, police said today.

Tension engulfed the Maryad Patti area after the incident, owing to which, police in strength had been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.

A manhunt had been launched.
