Reddy inaugurates NPRD of SLS in temple town

Tirupati, Sep 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here today inaugurated Natural Products Research Division(NPRD) of the Tirupati-based Sugen Life Sciences(SLS), providing collaboration and customs research, testing and manufacturing services for the pharmaceutical, bio-technology, among others.

Dr Reddy said Indians were in forefront everywhere and intensified their research and technology for the benefit of the society. The natural research should be utilised and steps should be taken to make new products for the society, he added.

The Chief Executive Officer of NPRD, C Damodhar Reddy said the division was equipped with Lab facilities and would be promoted by Bio-pharma research, besides development of scientifically validated herbal products, emphasising on safety and efficacy.

Herbal medicine was being used by 80 per cent of the world population primarily in the developing countries for primary health care and it was used less in India, compared to China, though more valuable medical plants were available in india, Mr Damodhar added.

State Information Minister A Rama Narayana Reddy, Health Minister Galla Aruna Kumari and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) Chairman B Karunakara Reddy, were among others present on the occasion.
