Man awarded life sentence for wife's murder

Barrackpore, Sep 16 (UNI) A sub-divisional sessions court at Basirhat in North 24 Parganas has sentenced life imprisonment to a man for killing his wife.

Sources here today said Additional District and Sessions Judge Subrata Mandal passed the verdict to the convict and slapped a fine of Rs 2000 on him or in default and additional imprisonment of six months.

Dibakar Mandal had killed his wife and buried her in the backyard of his house at Ketarchak village under Hingalgunj police station in August, 2005.

Police during an investigation was exhumed the victim's body in October, the same year.
