Mahant terms doubting Lord Ram's existence 'painful'
Gorakhpur, Sep 16 (UNI) Gorakshpeethadhishvar head and former MP Mahant Avaidyanath today termed the ASI's affidavit challenging the existence of Lord Ram as 'the painful incident' of his life.
'It is very sad that the existence of Lord Ram, who is the icon of India, is being challenged in the affidavit filed by Central government in the Supreme Court,'' the Mahant, who is the chairman of Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Yagya said.
Challenging his existence would not only be subversive, but also hurt the religious sentiments of crores of Hindus, he noted.
''Doubting the Lord's existence is akin to denying the existence of Hindus,'' the Mahant said, observing it was ''very sad'' to know the views of UPA governement at the centre on the issue.
