Memorial to be raised in memory of Kuka martyrs
Bhaini Sahib, Ludhiana, Sep 15 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today announced that suitable memorials in memory of the five Namdhari Sikhs who attained martyrdom during British rule in Amristar would be raised in their native villages on the pattern of Kuka Martyrs of Malerkotla by the Government.
He was addressing a largely attended Shaheedi Conference organised to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Sant Hakam Singh Patwari, Sant Fateh Singh, Sant Lehna Singh, Sant Jhanda Singh and Sant Beehla Singh who sacrificed their lives to protect the sanctity of the Golden Temple by launching an aggressive movement against cow slaughtering in 1871.
The commemoration function was organised in continuation of the year long state level celebrations of 150 th anniversary celebrations of Kuka Movement launched by Sat Guru Ram Singh.
