Koda not in favour of timeframe for disposal of minning lease

Ranchi, Sep 15 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today said he was not in favour of 15-month timeframe for disposing minning lease application as proposed in the new National Mineral Policy (NMP).

Mr Koda said limitation of timeframe would create adverse effect on mineral-rich states like Jharkhand.

Minister of State for Mines T Subbarami Reddy during his recent visit to Jharkhand had said the Union government would make mandatory a 15-months time for disposal of minning lease applications filed by various industrial houses.

Mr Koda said if the Centre would take the right of allocating mines the state would face economic crisis as it depends on mines and minerals for revenue.

Mr Koda the state did not posses much agriculture land and therefore mines and minerals were the main sources of revenue for the state government.

Mr Koda said implementing timeframe only for mineral sector would not be proper adding similar rules should also be made for coal and forest sector.

'' The Union government should also think over fixing a timeframe for disposing forect land clearance and coal block allotment application, '' the CM asserted.
