Former Additional Advocate General dies in accident in HP

Solan, Sep 15 (UNI) Twice former additional advocate general of Himachal Pradesh Sandeep Kaushik was killed and his wife and son seriously injured after a transport vehicle crashed into their car in Solan district of the state today, police sources said.

Kaushik was on his way to Chandigarh from here with his family when the Mahindra pick up coming from the opposite direction crashed into his car near Sanwara, about 20 km from here, on the Shimla-Kalka National Highway at about 1300 hrs.

The sources said while Kaushik died on the spot, his wife and son, who were seriously injured in the accident, have been referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) at Shimla where doctors described their condition as serious.

The driver of the pick up fled from the scene after the accident.

The vehicle has been impounded and a case has been registered against the driver for speeding and negligent driving. Efforts were on to arrest him, the sources added.

Former union minister Shanta Kumar, former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, BJP's state president Jai Ram Thakur and HP Chief Justice V K Gupta have expressed grief and sorrow over the death of former additional advocate general.
