Curfew in Bohra Badi area in Udaipur after clash among groups

Udaipur, Sep 15 (UNI) Indefinite curfew was imposed under the Bohra Badi police outpost area in Udaipur today, following a clash between two groups of the Dawoodi Bohra Youth Wing over offering prayers in a Masjid.

Inspector General of Police, Udaipur, Rajeev Dasot said the dispute errupted between Bohra Youth and another group led by Shahbab organisation, who clashed over offering prayers at the Moyadpura Masjid.

Mr Dasot said a large number of people gathered at the Masjid this morning as the holy Ramzan has begin. The Shahbab group was also offering prayers with the masses, when a large number of Bohra Youth supporters reached the Masjid.

The clash broke out when Shahbad supporters tried to prevent the male members of Bohra Youth from entering the Masjid leading. It escalated to brickbatting and stone pelting. Meanwhile the police reached the area, intervened and dispersed the crowd, using force.

Four people were injured in the incident.

According to police, a dispute was on between the two groups over the possession of the Masjid.

District collector Shikar Agarwal, as a precautionary measure, has imposed indefinite curfew in the Bohra Badi police post area from 0930 hrs. The situation there is said to be tense but under control.
