Guj CM poster case: Contempt notice to police

Jodhpur, Sep 15: A lower court here has issued a contempt notice against the Udai Mandir police station incharge for ignoring its order for registering cases against people behind the publication of a poster depicting Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje as goddess Annapurna.

Judicial magistrate court II of Bulakidas Vyas issued the order yesterday.

The contempt notice was issued after Sheetal Kanwar, wife of former union minister and senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh, moved a petition against the police station incharge for not complying with the court order of June 20 for registering cases against the people responsible for the publication of the poster and filing an enquiry report.

She said though the police had filed the enquiry report no case was registered till now.

The police in reply the issue in court defended its action by saying that the court had not issued any separate order for the registeration of cases. The court hearing both sides them issued a contempt notice againt the police station incharge.

Sheetal Kanwar had on June 19 filed a complaint in a Jodhpur court against Surya Kant Vyas, a BJP MLA, Hemant Bhora and others alleging that the poster dEpicting Vasundhara Raje as Goddess. UNI
