High Court's lawyers boycotted Chief Justice
Ranchi, Sep 14 (UNI) The lawyers of Jharkhand High Court today boycotted Chief Justice M Karpagyavinayagam to protest an alleged misbehaviour with a senior advocate in the courtroom.
The lawyers would review their stand on Monday even as the Chief Justice had he never said anything intentionally or deliberately, an advocate said.
''If something has hurt you I am always there to amend it. Don''t take it seriously or wrongly. I always want to have good relation with the bar and the bench,'' the Chief Justice told a delegation of lawyers.
Referring to the incident, he said senior lawyer Manzul Prasad had been told not to enter his court room because Mr Prasad had filed two different affidavits.
Claiming that Chief Justice Karpagyavinayagam had insulted the senior advocate, the Bar Association yesterday, at an emergency meeting, resolved to boycott his court and demanded his transfer.
Jharkhand Bar Council's acting chairman S N Roy said they had not received any resolution from the lawyers of Jharkhand High Court.
''If we receive any resolution, we will constitute a five-member fact finding committee. The committee will inquire into the matter and do what is necessary,'' he said.
