Veerendra Heggade to inaugurate 74th Kannada Conference

Udupi, Sept 13(UNI) Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) Central Committee President Chandrashekar Patil today announced that Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmastala D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the 74th Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelan to be held here from October 25 to 28.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that renowned Kannada writer Prof. L S Sheshagiri Rao would be the President of the four-day Sammelan.

The name of Mr Heggade, who had made remarkable contributions by involving in cultural, educational and social activities, was unanimously accepted by the Central Committee members.

He said that over one lakh people were expected to participate in the Conference. There will be a total 15 sessions during the Conference on Kannada language, literature, land, water, border and other related issues concerned with Karnataka.

Dr Patil said that the Conference will have two poet sessions and a women writer's session. Special attraction would be the 'Geetha Sangeetha' programme where the singers would sing the songs presented by the poets created on the spot.

The valedictory session will be attended by the Chief Minister, he added.
