Spice Telecom provides umbrellas to poor children

Bangaluru, Sep 13 (UNI) Leading telecom service provider Spice Telecom, as part of its corporate social responsibility, today distributed 850 umbrellas to the children of Parikrama, a free school for under-privileged children living in 26 slums here.

The umbrella was a symbolic extension of Spice's 'Jaasti Coverage' (more coverage) campaign, where Spice had taken coverage beyond just the network coverage to the realm of providing rain shelters to the children of Parikrama.

Speaking on the occasion, company Senior Vice-President (Operations) Rakesh Singh said, ''through our Helping Hand initiative, we have tried to provide these children with the little comforts that are very important to them. Sure these umbrellas would not revolutionise their lives, but at least they would make sure they reach their school in relative comfort.'' He said Spice, currently available in two circles, Punjab and Karnataka, had a base of over two million subscribers.
