Shillong, Sep 13 (UNI) The Shillong Arts and Music Lovers Forum (SAMLF) today appealed to the people of the Northeast and the country as a whole to generate sufficient votes in favour of Shillong lad Amit Paul for the final round of the Indian Idol contest.

Addressing a press conference here, SAMLF chairman J L Das said, ''Due to the pattern of the voting system, week-long voting beginning September 14, it may not be possible for the supporters of Amit, from a small state like Meghalaya, to make him the Indian Idol. However, the music lovers of the country must be responsible and select the most deserving candidate.'' Besides, Amit Paul who visited the state on September 3, appealed to the people of the state in particular and the NE in general to vote for him.

The Meghalaya government had already appointed him as the Brand Ambassador of the state for peace and social harmony.
