RAI to hold international convention on retail
Mumbai, Sep 13 (UNI) Retailers Association of India (RAI) today announced to hold the first India International Convention (IIRC) 2007 across four cities of the country to promote the modernization of the retail sector.
The convention will be held from 19-21 September in the financial capital, Mumbai followed by similar conventions in New Delhi, Chennai, and Bangalore.
The association here today said that the objective of the convention is to understand the Indian retail scenario, reality development and other functional aspects that have an impact on the growth of the retail sector in the country and to explore the synergies with retailers, suppliers and services.
RAI Chairman B S Nagesh said, ''As the modern retailing is growing at a fast pace, the customers' choices and preferences are also becoming global. Learning from the best practices in the sector has become important as it will help to modernize the Indian retail sector.'' The Indian retail sector, with 12 million retailers, is undergoing a transformational phase and it is a challenging time for the retailers, Mr Nagesh added.
