Monsoon remains subdued in Punjab, HP

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (UNI) Hot and humid weather conditions prevailed in most parts of the north-west India as monsoon remained subdued in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh during the past 24 hours.

There was no rainfall activity in Punjab since last night, leading to humid weather conditions in the state.

Haryana, too, had no rain, except Hissar which was lashed by moderate to heavy downpour. Hissar recorded 34.2 mm rainfall till this morning.

However, rain lashed isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, bringing a fall in the mercury. Sundernagar, Pandoh, Kalpa, Rampur and Petsio areas in the state also had rainfall.

Tribal areas of the state reeled under cold weather conditions in the wake of the mercury staying low.

Hot and humid conditions persisted in Chandigarh as rains eluded the city. The sun played hide and seek during the day. Chandigarh recorded the maximum humidity at 91 per cent and the minimum at 46 per cent.

The Met Office predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at few places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab during the next 24 hours.
