Four prisoners wound prison guard, escape

Mainpuri, Sep 13 (UNI) Four jail birds grievously wounded a prison guard and escaped from the jail in Mainpuri district.

Raju alias Gandhi, Samarpal, Swadesh and Dheeraj -- all charged with murder and other heinous crimes -- assaulted the prison guard with a knife and flew the coop by scaling the jail wall late yesterday.

While Dheeraj was later arrested, others still at large, police said today.

A manhunt had been launched.
