BJP to intensify its agitation on Ram Sethu

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) The senior BJP leaders today held an emergency meeting and decided to launch a nation-wide agitation to force the UPA Government to withdraw its affidavit before the Supreme Court on Ram Sethu.

The Government in its affidavit had said there was no historical evidence about the existence of the Ram Sethu while emphasising the need to go ahead with the Sethusamundaram Project.

The meeting was chaired by senior BJP Vice President Bal Apte as party President Rajnath Singh was away in Guwahati. The meeting was attended among others by L K Advani, M M Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Jaswant Singh, Yashwant Sinha and other office bearers in Delhi.

It was decided to launch a nation-wide agitation and also intensify its campaign against the Sethusamundaram Project with the present alignments.

At a meeting yesterday, Mr Advani had conveyed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about the party's reservation against the Sethusamudaram Project which would harm the historical Ram Sethu or Adam's Bridge..
