ABVP burns PM's effigy on Sethusamudram issue
Vijayawada, Sep 13 (UNI) Protesting against the Centre's affidavit filed in the Supreme Court in the Sethusamudram case yesterday, the Akhila Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Satyanaraayanapuram, near here.
The ABVP city unit leaders and activists denounced the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) contention before the apex court that the Ramasethu near Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu was not a man made bridge, only it was a natural formation.
The affidavit had hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus in the country, the leaders said.
Later, police arrested the activists for burning the effigy of Prime Minister.
