VHP stages 'rasta roko' against 'Setusamudram' project in Vidarbha

Nagpur, Sep 12 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged a 'Rasta Roko' across Vidarbha region of Maharashtra today as part of its nation-wide agitation to oppose the ''Sethusamudram'' project.

VHP activists blocked traffic at 142 places in Vidarbha, a spokesman for the organisation said. Nearly 600 activists were detained by the police, and were later released, the spokesman said.

The activists also stopped a train at Nagpur railway station as part of the agitation. The 2809 Mumbai-Howrah Mail was stopped for about 10 minutes, a Central Railway (CR) spokesman told UNI. The activists also stopped the 1653 Chhindwara-Amla passenger at Parasia railway station for about 17 minutes, the spokesman added.
