VHP organises 2 hours of 'chakka jam' in Saurashtra

Rajkot, Sep 12 (UNI) As part of the nationwide 'chakka jam' agitation by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to protest the proposed Sethusamudram Shipping Project, its activists successfully blocked roads for two hours at several places in the Saurashtra region, reports reaching here said.

In Rajkot, the vehicular traffic came to a halt at Trikon Baugh, Kalavad Road, Amrapali and Parevadi Chowk during 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs. Traffic had to be diverted on several routes of the city following the road blockade. Police were busy maintaining the situation under control.

Road blockades were also held at Morbi, Gondal, Lalpur, Kutiyana, Bhavnagar and other parts of the Saurashtra region, reports said.

Saying Ramsethu is the symbol of faith and religion of the Hindus, the VHP alleged that anti-religious Congress government was trying to break this symbol of Hindu dignity and faith.
