NH 31 A restores connectivity links with Sikkim
Gangtok, Sep 12 (UNI) Sikkim's road connectivity with the rest of the country was today restored with repairing of the NH 31A, the lifeline of the state, by the Border Roads Organisation.
The BRO officials said here today that a portion of the highway had been washed away at Tarkhola, a few kms away from Rangpo, the border town of Sikkim.
The BRO had created a 700 m diversion road yesterday and the highway was opened for some hours, the officials added.
But, heavy rains since last night caused a landslide over the diversion route, disrupting the traffic again.
However, the BRO managed to change the alignment of the passage and smooth flow of traffic was resumed today, they said.
