Media reports on Jayalalitha affidavit ''misleading'' : EC

New Delhi, Sept 12 (UNI) The Election Commission today described as ''misleading'' reports in a section of the press referring to its affidavit filed before the Supreme Court in the matter of J Jayalalitha filing nomination papers from four assembly constituencies for election to the Tamil Nadu Assembly in 2001.

A clarification issued by the Election Commission said the reports and the captions given in some newspapers were ''misleading and at variance with the contents of the affidavit'' of the Commission filed before the Supreme Court.

The Commission, however, did not elaborate, saying the matter was ''sub judice.'' UNI
