HUJI militant surrenders, hideout busted in Jammu

Jammu, Sep 11 (UNI) A local Harkat-ul Jehad-e-Islami (HUJI) militant today laid down his weapons at Kishtwar, while the security forces unearthed a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said.

A HUJI militant, identified as Shabir Ahmed of Sewa Chatroo area, surrendered before Kishtwar police this afternoon, sources said.

He handed over one AK rifle, three magazines and a grenade to police.

However, a press note issued by Army, late today, said Shabir Ahmed alias Shajjad was 'section commander' the HUJI outfit and was arrested by the joint columns of Rashtriya Rifles and state police.

Meanwhile, security forces recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunitions from a militant hideout at Andrfencheer Marmat in Doda.

One SLR, two magazines, three grenades, two remote control devices, two detonators, two radio sets, two quintal rice, one quintal atta, 15 kgs milk powder, 10 kgs sugar, five kgs salt, 15 ltrs kerosene oil, besides a large quantity of other items of daily usage were recovered, sources informed.
