Centre approves construction of railway bridge in Jharkhand
New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) Road Transport and Highways Minister T R Baalu has approved the construction of a Railway over Bridge (ROB)- cum-flyover over the Subernrekha river at Namkum in Jharkhand at a cost of Rs 26.30 crore.
A ministry official today said the existing bridge on NH-33 on the Subernrekha river is of narrow width and in a dilapidated condition.
''Due to high traffic volume of goods traffic, a flyover is required over crossing of NH-33 with State Highway-1. The proposed grade-separated alignment corridors would provide relief to the traffic,'' he said.
The proposal is primarily aimed at achieving a permanent closure of railway level crossing at Namkum and providing through passage between Ranchi and Jamshedpur on NH-33 and Purulia side of SH-1.
He said the Railway Ministry would provide Rs 7.61 crore as its share of the ROB.
