Pondy: Poor quality clothes distribution continues

Puducherry, Sep 12: The Puducherry unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will move the Madras High Court, if the state government continued to provide poor quality clothes to Dalit and BPL families during festivals.

BSP state President Thanga Kalaimaran, informed this at a press conference here, alleging that low quality clothes were being distributed, under the free distribution scheme, to the people during Deepavali and Pongal festivals.

Displaying some of the distributed clothes, he said the party welcomed state Welfare Minister M Kandasamy's announcement that quality polyester clothes would be supplied in future.

The party would organise massive agitations if the government backtracked from it's announcement, he warned.
