Anganwadi workers, kids beaten up in Chhattisgarh

Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, Sep 12 (UNI) Two anganwadi workers and their children were fatally beaten with stones by unidentified people near this district's Barna nullah, police said.

Teejobai (27), her son Chhotu (2 months), Jeewanti Bai (25) and her son Sandeep (9 months) -- who hailed from Navgai village -- came to Kusmi yesterday for some work in the bank. While returning last night, they were targeted about 10 km from Kusmi. No looting took place but it is suspected that the women were raped.

The post mortem report is awaited.
