190 prisoners to be set free in TN

Chennai, Sep 12 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today ordered the release of as many as 190 prisoners, including five women, who were given life sentence and had completed ten years of imprisonment, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C N Annadurai on September 15.

An official release here said these prisoners, who were undergoing imprisonment in various prisons in the State, would be set at liberty on September 15.

The Government had decided to release the prisoners, who had served ten years and certified for good conduct by the prison authorities, as per the rules framed for lifers and after getting the Governor's assent, the release added.
