Landslide disrupts communication in Arunachal's East Kameng
Itanagar, Sep 11 (UNI) The headquarters of Arunachal Pradesh's East Kameng district, Seppa, remained cut off from the rest of the country since last four days following heavy landslides.
Official reports here today said the overflowing streams following incessant rains triggered massive landslides at several places on the road between Seppa and zero point disrupting communication.
However, the East and West Kameng districts administration along with Border Road Task Force (BRTF) were working round the clock to restore communication at the earliest, the report said.
The roads between Seppa and Chayangtajo and Seppa Bameng were also cut off due to the landslides, the report said adding a team of officers, headed by the deputy commissioner along with labourers, had set off for the block points to assist the BRTF.
Meanwhile, the Educated Movement for Social Justice (EMSJ) of Mebo under East Siang district had urged state Water Resources Development Minister Tako Dabi for immediate construction of anti-erosion walls at Sigar and Ngopok villages to prevent erosion by Siang and Siku rivers.
The NGO said the ongoing massive soil erosion in Ngopok Korong near Donyi-Poli Dere had created havoc among the villagers of Ngopok, Kiyit and Borguli villages.
It also apprehended that Sigar village would be inside Siang river if precautions were not taken.
