Health department staff resort to dharna

Puducherry, Sep 11 (UNI) Group "D" staff of the health department here today resorted to a dharna in front of the government general hospital to press their demands.

Their demands included filling up of group "C" and "D" posts, provision of assured career progression schemes and appointments on compassionate grounds.

The dharna, which started at 0900 hours concluded at 1400 hours.

Meanwhile, members of the Subbash Chandra Bose Youth Welfare Association at Ariyankuppam observed a fast in front of the 'Bharathiar Plakalaikoodam' to protest against the administrational lapses.

They alleged that certain courses in the 'palkalaikoodam' were yet to get university recognition and there is no provision to study PG in fine arts there.
