Former SL Prez Chandrika Kumaratunga arrives in city
Chennai, Sep 11 (UNI) Former Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga arrived here on a two-day private visit.
After a two-day stay here, she was expected to leave for New Delhi on September 13.
Police have made elaborate security arrangements for her visit.
However, the presence of two Sri Lankan women, along with a battery of mediapersons, who were waiting for a sound bite from the former Lankan President, led to some tension, before the Q Branch and CISF personnel spotted them.
On interrogation, the Lankan women said their baggages were lost when they reached Chennai, a few days back from Sri Lanka and wanted to inform the press about it.
The Q Branch officials whisked them away and advised them that the matter had to be reported to the Airport authorities and not to the media.
As mediamen jostled for space, Ms Kumaratunga boarded a waiting car and left the airport without meeting the press.
