Centre asked to give clear direction on admission in dental colleges

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Sep 11 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh High Court has directed the Centre to give a clear order regarding admission into two dental colleges of the state within 10 days.

Hearing a petition filed by local New Horizon college and Bhilai's Santa Dental College, a division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Jagdish Bhalla and Justice D S Deshmukh gave the direction yesterday.

The petitioner told the court that the Dental Council of India's (DCI) report was in the favour of the colleges. However, in its report to the Centre last year, the DCI recommended not to allot 100 seats to these colleges.

The petition stated that the role of the DCI ends on June 15.

However, the DCI team was sent for re-inspecting these colleges in the last week of August. Later, this recommendation was sent to the Centre.

A DCI official admitted before the court that a decision was taken for re-inspecting these colleges.
